“BEYOND THE BATTLEFIELD: THE OTHER SIDE OF MARTYRDOM’’- THE STORY OF LOVE, SACRIFICES AND DEVOTIONS
The Kargil War of 1999 was one of the toughest wars fought in India. Every Indian soldier who fought in this war was extremely brave and fearless. The way they climbed the cold, snow-covered mountains and risked their lives for the nation, fighting to protect the country and defending it from enemies, is truly commendable and worthy of deep respect. The tales of thousands of soldiers who fought in the war are well known, and the whole world praises their courage. But along with them, there were others who were also part of this battle- those who sacrificed their love and husbands for the nation, who gave up their beloveds for the sake of India’s safety, and in the spirit of patriotism and national defense, they lost their loved ones with a brave smile. They are the martyr’s beloved who fought a battle without ever stepping onto the battlefield and still emerged victorious in their own fight- watching their beloveds become martyrs for the nation. Here's names of the selffess beloveds of some Martyr’s:
- Dimple Cheema
- Dr. Deepika Gaur
- Rajeshwari Kumari
- Shalini Singh
Dimple Cheema: She was the beloved of Captain Vikram Batra who is Param Vir Chakra and Kargil War hero.
Story: Dimple was the captain Batra’s fiancee. After his martyrdom, Dimple decided never to marry and chose to spend her entire life alone. And she spent her entire life holding on to Vikram’s memories. Their story reflects an unbreakable bond of love and a deep sense of selfless devotion to the nation.
Dr. Deepika Gaur: Wife of Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhoundiyal .
Story: When Major Vibhuti was martyred, it had only been G months since their marriage. The courage and pride with which Deepika attended his funeral was a truly unforgettable and heart-strengthening sight. Later, Deepika herself joined the Indian Army.
Rajeshwari Kumari: She was the fiancee of Captain Anuj Nayyar
Story: They both are engaged and set to marry but before that could happen, he was martyred. Yet, Rajeshwari kept his memories alive within herself.
Shalini Singh: Wife of Major Avinash Singh Bhadauria.
Story: After the martyrdom of Avinash she raised her daughter alone and later she joined Indian Army through the short service commission.
When we remember the martyrs who gave their lives for the country and honor their sacrifice, we should also remember and appreciate their loved ones – those who gave up their love and family for the sake of the nation. Their sacrifice is equally worthy of respect and recognition. It is not only the soldiers who fought in wars who have done so much for our country- women too have made equal sacrifices and shown immense courage in protecting the nation.
