FROM PROTEST TO PERSECUTION
One year after the incident at R.G KAR medical college .leaders of the protests arenow facing legal cases and difficulties in their careers. Its been one year since aacolleague was rape and murdered at the hospital .The juniors doctors who led the protest have since become well- known protestleaders . However now they are now being tortured and are dealing withpunishment in the form of transfers ,dealing with legal cases, career setbacks ,andmoney problems. Because they believe the truth is buried , the guilty walkfree . For that they are protesting but they are being punished detained andtortured. Recently ,they even received new police summons. Doctors areprotesting again because still after one year justice is stranger.
RETALIATION AGAINST THE PROTEST LEADERS
Prominent leaders of the protests such as doctors Aniket Mahato ,Ashfaqullah Naiya, Kinjil Nanda, and Debashis Halder, have had to deal with FIRS,court battles, and transfers. The three doctors challenged these transfer in court ,claiming they were punitive and retaliatory and they they were being punished for their roles in the protests . In response they went to court arguing that these transfers were not normal, but were done to punish them for protesting. The three doctors challenged these transfers in court, claiming they were punitive and retaliatory, and they were being punished for their roles in the protests. Aniket Mahato said that he has not joined his posting, which is in remote part of the north Dinajpur, and with the case pending in court, he has not received a salary for months. The case against the transfers are pending at the Calcutta High Court. The government has denied the claim that the transfers were related to the RJ KAR protest and said they were routine moves. Police have also filed criminal cases against them, accusing them of gathering unlawfully and injuring police officers. The doctors condemn this act since they argue that these criminal cases which are being filed against them is just because they are fighting for justice . They argued “we had nothing to do with politics, but I am firm in saying I will continue my fight against in Justice. My family has been my side, but my mother is very stressed. ,Mahato Said”
CLOSING THOUGHT
It’s been a year since that soul was silenced, but justice remained a stranger. Her soul’s cry still echoes for justice and peace, but the cruelty is at its peak. Protectors are being persecuted, and the fight is still on because truth is worried, but will keep searching it on. Justice sleeps while her pain is still awaking.Truth is hidden, but we keep searching. They punish those who stand for her,and yes, a year has passed, but her cry still echoes for justice’s roar…
